I peg it to the May Comprehensive Update for Windows 10. Didn't have the problem before that update. Since when is "#" not an acceptable character in a file name? I have thousands of files with "#" in the name and I don't want to have to go through and rename each one because MS messed up the preview function.

Remember that the file is actually still there but just shows as an error. Windows 10 may well fix it in the next update - or am I too optimistic?

Hi JCS1983V, this is Sicong and I also frustrated in this issue, please help us figure it out in next Window 11 update, thanks.

I had that same issue with six different clients and found that you can resolve it by double checking the name of the folder that the document resides in. If you are using an odd character like a # or $ in it a lot of the time the preview will fail. if you remove the odd character everything works. If you put the character back in the folder name it messes up again. So it could be a fluke or that could be the real issue that is creating this issue.

Mine was pdfs - I closed Explorer and went to Adobe Acrobat DC - checked for updates (Help>Check for Updates) then proceeded to do a Repair Installation (Help>Repair Installation). Worked like a charm.

I'm confirming your conclusion that removing the # from the file folder works perfectly! My previews are back in the file folders!

    Thank you.
