UNABLE TO RECEIVE CODE FROM MICROSOFT

I have a Microsoft Account which I've been using to logon to my laptop until today. Now when I enter my email address Windows says it has sent a code to my email address but when I check my email on my phone or another laptop there's no code. I'm thus locked out. I'm able to open my account via the web but failing to logon to Windows using the email address. I can receive emails from others but no code from Microsoft.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out! My name is Femi. I'm an Independent advisor and a Microsoft fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

    Try these steps:

    1. Check Your Spam or Junk Folder

Sometimes, those verification emails from Microsoft end up in the Spam, Junk, or Other folders instead of your main inbox.

    1. Use the "I don’t have a code" Option

When you're on the Windows login screen and it asks for a code, look for the option that says "I don’t have a code" or "Try another way" and follow the prompts. If you can, select "Use a recovery code" or "Verify via phone" if you've set that up.

    1. Restart Your Laptop

Sometimes, a quick restart can prompt Windows to try the code request again.

    1. Try Logging in Without Internet

If you set up your account with a PIN or password, try disconnecting from Wi-Fi and see if you can log in offline.

    1. Reset Your Password (If Needed)

If all else fails, you can reset your password by visiting:

You may try to follow some troubleshooting suggestions on the thread below.

Thank you so much, Femi. I followed all the instructions to the dot. I checked my spam/junk folder and no code was ever received. Surprisingly on the logon page there's no other option as you can see in the picture below.

When I try to sign in without internet, it says "You'll need the internet for this". I'm really stumped!

Any further help will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

I understand that you are having trouble receiving the verification code on your alternate email address, and no alternate methods are listed.

    1. Try restarting your PC a couple of times and then request the verification code again to your @live.com email address. See if the verification code is being received.

If the verification code is still not received, boot your PC in the Windows recovery environment screen and try some recovery methods. To boot your PC in WinRE,

    1. On the sign-in screen, press and hold the shift key while you select Power > Restart.2. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System restore.

    • Select the date/time you would like to restore your computer.

    • Once the system restoration is complete, try signing in with your PIN or password. • See if the verification code is being received.

If you are still having issues, you can try other recovery options like startup repair or boot your PC in safe mode.

As a last resort, you can try resetting your PC without affecting your Personal files.

Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Keep my files and proceed with Local re-installation.

    • Once completed, try resetting your PIN.

    • Sign in with your Microsoft account.

    • See if the verification code is being sent.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

I'm having the same problem. Nothing is working. I reset my PC, and it's still having the issue where "something" happened to my pin, and it "supposedly" sends an email to me, but there is no email being sent...

So now I'm locked out of my laptop, with no way of getting in. What is happening. I just bought this PC and now I cannot use it.

I am also having this issue with my PC, it randomly went into bios while I was taking a nap and had left my pc on Raid Shadow Legends for only 50 minutes and then when i tried to get out of it, it wouldn’t let me sign in and doesn’t give me an alternative option to sign in and won’t send me a verification code. Did you end up figuring it out?
