i'm having the same problem, none of the solutions are working. started after the last update. I'm just trying to find documents from certain dates and it's become this infuriating process that i have to spend hours working to resolve. now the dropdown menu doesn't even work, and i can't move the window because the bar froze.
you need to reset or repair Windows 11, there are a few different methods to try, depending on what you're trying to achieve. Here are step-by-step instructions:
Resetting Windows 11 allows you to reinstall the operating system, either keeping or removing your personal files. This can help resolve major system issues or prepare your PC for a fresh start.
Steps to Reset Windows 11:
o Press Windows + I to open the Settings menu.
o Go to System > Recovery.
o Click on Reset this PC under Recovery Options.
o Select either:
Keep my files: This option will remove apps and settings but keep your personal files.
Remove everything: This option will remove everything, including files, settings, and apps.
o Select either:
Cloud download: Downloads a fresh copy of Windows from the cloud.
Local reinstall: Reinstalls Windows from your device.
o Click Next and follow the prompts to complete the reset process. Your system will reboot a few times during the process.
If your system has boot issues or other problems, you can use advanced startup options to perform repairs.
Steps to Access Advanced Startup Options:
o Press Windows + I to open Settings.
o Go to System > Recovery.
o Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
o After restarting, you’ll be in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
o Choose Troubleshoot.
o Here, you have several repair options:
Startup Repair: Fixes boot issues.
System Restore: Restores Windows using a previous restore point.
Uninstall Updates: Uninstalls recent updates that may be causing issues.
Command Prompt: Run command-line tools like sfc /scannow and chkdsk for file and disk repairs.
You can run the System File Checker tool to repair corrupted system files.
Steps to Repair Windows Files:
o Type cmd in the search bar.
o Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
o In the Command Prompt, type:
bash
Copy code
sfc /scannow
o Press Enter.
o This command will scan and repair any corrupted or missing system files.
o After the scan completes, restart your computer to apply the repairs.
If none of the above options work, you can use a bootable Windows 11 USB drive or DVD to repair your OS.
Steps to Use Windows Installation Media:
o Download the Windows 11 Installation Media. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...)
o Use a USB drive or DVD to create a bootable installation.
o Insert the USB drive or DVD into your PC.
o Restart your PC and boot from the installation media.
o Select your language and other preferences.
o Click Repair your computer in the bottom left corner.
o Choose Troubleshoot and select a repair option.
o You can run Startup Repair, System Restore, or other advanced options from here.
By following these methods, you should be able to reset or repair your Windows 11 installation effectively.
