How to change a device considered as "output" into "input"

I have a microphone that I can plug in the 3.5 mm headphone jack. My laptop can sense that it is plugged in but has considered it an output device, when it should be input.

I've tried changing it through the control panel and even through the normal sound settings, but there is no option to change it into an input device. I do not want to use an adapter, since it works perfectly fine with the laptop. I just need to change the default settings from output into input.

How can I change this behaviour from the laptop to sense that it's an input device and not one that is output?

    Hi ,

Open Realtek Console Panel > In the Advanced Device Settings tab > Select the input and mode of What type of device is connected.

    Hope this helps.
