Windows activation Issues with E3 Microsoft Plan

Hello,

I accidentally bought a surface book studio that came pre installed with a windows home oem license.

Now since we are a company it needs to be the enterprise version.

I've tried to update it to Windows 11 Enterprise with a generic which worked but now I am not able to activate Windows 11 because it probably wants to use the OEM license.

However, the windows 11 license should be part of the E3 license. Why does it not activate Windows then?

It states that windows cannot be activated because I don't own a valid digital license or product key. Code 0xC004C003.

Maybe it tries to use the key instead of trying to use the digital license from the e3 account?

Are you signed in to the company domain with the access to the activation server?

    Hello,Remo Aebi

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

We understand that you mistakenly bought a Surface Book Studio with Windows Home Edition pre-installed, and now you upgraded it to Enterprise Edition but cannot activate it, we understand your feelings, but Enterprise Edition related issues are beyond the scope of our forum support, it involves more areas, our community provides technical support on the day-to-day use of Windows Home Edition and Professional Edition and upgrade and update faults. However, the question you mentioned is more appropriately posted on Microsoft Learn (English only, you can use the translation tool to assist in your communication), which is designed to have professional technicians who provide support for the Enterprise Edition to be able to provide you with assistance.

You can ask a question by clicking on "Ask a question", there are experts in this area who can provide more specialised solutions.

I won't be able to help you, but I'll keep the question on file in case one of our wonderful volunteers comes up with a solution for you.

    Best Regards,
