When I go to exit Notepad I see the following Backupengine.log. I am giving the option to save it or not save the file.

I have no idea what I should be doing with this file. Can someone help me with this?

The Windows 11 Notepad remembers the last file opened and reopens it. You can turn this feature off in the settings (Gear icon) by selecting "Open a new window" under "When Notepad starts".

As for the file Backupengine.log. It's just a log file. It won't matter if you save it or not.

    Thanks for your reply LesFerch!

I noticed also there is the following file below which mentions the Toolkit external drive that I use for backup.

I have noticed for the longest time now and still is an issue where File History is not recognizing the Toolkit harddrive and I am wondering if I am prompted to save this file in the event that this problem may be solved between Toolkit and File History.

    Here is the file:

Do you want to save changes to C:\users\kenne\app\data\local\temp\temp\f0b61980-bc7d-4925-92b4-126e8c0494b4_toolkitlog.zip

It's a file in your Temp folder, so that's a clue that it's just something used by the Seagate Toolkit software and there should be no user interaction with it. You may want to contact Seagate support to dive deeper, but it looks like a file you should ignore. Why is it even being opened in Notepad in the first place? It's a zip file. Notepad is for text files only. If Notepad saves a zip file, it will become corrupted, so definitely do NOT save it. Did zip files somehow get associated with Notepad on your computer? Did you intentionally open that file with Notepad? Sorry I have more questions than answers, but that's not normal and it just raises questions.

That is a good question as it was just there. I sure did not put it there so I took your advice and got rid of it.

How did it get there in the first place?

I didn't actually say to get rid of it, just ignore it. But since it's a temp file, I'm sure it's fine.

As I mentioned, it must be something that's created by the Seagate Toolkit software. You just shouldn't be getting prompts to save it. Why that happened (and let's hope it stops happening) is a mystery to me.
