When trying to play games (any game) on my windows 11 PC it will randomly restart. Sometimes it will happen within a few minutes of starting a game and other times it won't happen for an extended period of time. Windows and drivers are all up to date. It's not overheating as I've monitored for this also.

Runs fine when not gaming.

PC details are:

  • Windows 11 Pro
  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor
  • ASROCK Steel Legend B550M mother board
  • 16 GB DDR4 Ram
  • AMD Radeon RX480 8GB graphics card
  • 550w power supply

Problem details are:

Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been offline.

Yes. Your guess may be correct.

Has this behavior occurred since you started using the computer for gaming?

    Thanks David

I did some additional research after seeing the Kernal-Power Event ID 41 in the error logs.

I think despite the system power requirements only being 350w and the power supply being sufficient at 550W. The ASRock B550M Steel Legend motherboard has an additional 4 pin ATX power connector for higher current demand usage which is not supported by this power supply.

My best guess is the power supply is insufficient in a high current scenario like gaming but adequate when only under normal (non-gaming) use.

Unfortunately, there is no relevant information in the logs you sent.

Does the Reliability Monitor keep reporting the same error you mentioned in the original question?
