Hello since I have installed MS Teams latest version (1.3.00.16851), sharing screen is not working anymore. I had to downgrade to version 1.3.00.5153 and then sharing screen is restored. Thanks for support

In 1.3.00.16851 we introduced screensharing red border indicator and we noticed that on i3 it causes issues with transparency. Symptoms would be black screen with red border. If you do have this, can you try to rename this file (so it is not used) /usr/share/teams/resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/slimcore/bin/rect-overlay and try again? We are working on the fix on our side.

Hi, I had the same issue, and had to downgrade to 1.30.5153, too. But I use Window Maker 0.95.8, not i3 WM. The workaround has worked for me, too. Thanks @MarianJavorkaMSFT

Just chiming in the I had this problem with XFCE4, and the workaround worked.

Moving rect-overlay file also fixed issue on Arch linux using LXDE. Thank you.

The renaming of rect-overlay did not fix screen sharing on my linux mint machine. screen sharing was working. now i do not get an option to choose a file or share screen. I need to brief my senior leadership team. please help

This becomes an issue for Xubuntu users when one disables compositing (which dramatically improves performance). Renaming the file fixed the issue for me.

Hello everybody,

Renaming "/usr/share/teams/resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/slimcore/bin/rect-overlay" into ".../bin/rect-overlay.bak" worked for me.
Using OpenSUSE Leap x86_64

Confirm that this workaround works on the following setup:

Fedora Linux 32
XFCE4 desktop, v4.14

The work around did not help me either. I am using Fedora 32 Gnome on x11 and can screen share in other applications like Discord just fine.

This was only one of two steps required for me.

Additionally I disabled Wayland and reverted back to X11 - After that screen sharing works as expected.

For Fedora 32 uncomment EnableWayland = false in your /etc/gdm/custom.conf and restart your session.

Installed teams_1.4.00.26453 on Debian 11. Audio works.

Sharing doesn't show options where you can choose which app you want to share
