we bought the Minecraft Java Edition to use it in multiplayer mode, but this option is disabled. Error message is 'Multiplayer is disabled. Please check your Microsoft account settings'. Unfortunately we can't find anything that could be changed. Any ideas? Thx!

ok I've found this its like start here:

    https://account.microsoft.com/family/

then pick More Options > Xbox settings - this will take you to the xbox account, that is linked to the MS one and there go to Privacy & online settings, then pick a child login and the second tab is Xbox1 / Win10 online security page where you can allow the kid to play multiplayer games (second option from the bottom)

Still can't access Multiplayer on my minecraft: Java edition on iMac. Here is what I found. Looks like to manage the settings you need XBox Family Settings app. XBox webpage says this app can be downloaded from AppStore, but it's not there.

What is going on? I paid for minecraft for my son, when he will be able to play it?

Manage a child’s content in the Xbox Family Settings app

Decide if a member can play multiplayer games with their friends.

Note If a member wants to play Minecraft, you’ll need to have this option turned on.

    1. Sign in to the app with an organizer’s Microsoft account, and then do one of the following to get to Settings:
      • Select the tile for the member you want to manage, and then select the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the Family screen.
      • Select the Settings icon at the bottom of the Familyscreen, and then select the tile for the member you want to manage.
    2. Select the Multiplayer tile and turn Allowoff or on.

At first I did not get that I have to manage all those settings in minecraft. I was looking for Xbox settings management. Idea to create Family group first and then to log in as parent to minecraft and allow my kid to play miltiplayer - that helped. Thanks, KR.
