Touchpad not functioning correctly

I have a 4 year old HP Pavilion 15 laptop. The hard drive was playing up so I have installed an SSD in it's place. Rather than clone the old HDD to the new drive, I did a clean install of Windows 10 intending to migrate data and settings across later. I have also updated the BIOS through HP. Unfortunately, the scroll functions on the touchpad no longer work and the Device Manager does not show a touchpad installed, only a PS/2 keyboard & mouse. I tried following instructions on various sites but so many tell me to find the touchpad in Device Manager and install updated drivers. The touchpad is not there so I can't. Before I resort to reformatting the SSD and cloning my old OS & data to it, with all the bad pathways and garbage they contain, can anyone give me advice please.

    Hi Paloma.

For some reason the links you supplied did not work, page error displayed.

However, I was able to find these two downloads on the HP support site and tried them both, as I had no idea which touchpad my laptop utilises.. No joy with the Synaptics but the Elan driver worked straight off. All touchpad functions now up and running.

    Thank you very much.

    Thanks for the info.

I checked the model on the manufacturer's website and this was some driver options I found, where the manufacturer makes available for this model.

Try to install them and check if the problem persists.

Could you share your computer model? Press Windows+R, type msinfo32 and click OK, when opening the info window, send me a printscreen please.

We need to check the manufacturer's website to find the correct driver and install it so it will work again.
