This solved my problem. No AMD or Nvidia Graphics, and no permission to change registry settings on the work computer.
Text select pointer goes completely white colored when hovering over black text with a white background.
Hello, a couple of days ago, windows updates installed a new AMD display driver. Since then, the text select pointer has been going completely white colored when I hover over black text with a white background (This happens on all websites and on both Edge & Chrome, so it seems like a driver issue) and then it becomes extremely hard to tell where the mouse pointer is, because the white color blends well with the white background. However, if I move the mouse pointer a bit and also click 1 time, the text select cursor goes back to being black colored (which is what it is supposed to be when it is hovering over black text)
Some notes:
- The machine is a Lenovo laptop.
- OS: Windows 11
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics 2.10 GHz
- RAM: 8GB
- The new driver version with the issue: 31.0.12016.9
- I clean installed windows 11 today and the issue still persists.
- Before I clean installed windows 11, I rolled back to the previous driver using Device Manager, and that fixed the issue.

2023-09-11T16:44:00+00:00 Perfect! Just do this and choose the color white (bottom left corner) and boom. The effect is also that the mouse border is thicker which looks way better.

Asus Notebook ROG G713 with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics
Problem is on any new drivers from AMD, but registry fix helped a lot.
Thanks! Happy typing!

2023-10-26T19:16:09+00:00 Although this solution didn't resolve the issue completely on my AMD powered HP (in Word, Excel, Google Docs etc.) and the cursor is still turning white while scrolling the page up or down. But it at least will turn back to black if I move it back and forth. Better than it was before.
p.s. While one famous engineer is going to settle people on Mars, engineers in big tech companies still struggle to resolve simple issues stemming from early 2020s, if not earlier - cursor turning white, missing at start up and then turning on wifi etc.
