The error did not happen again since it last occurred. My question is, what caused the initial error that lead to the client closing, was the faulting module, coreclr.dll, corrupted? If yes, what caused it to be corrupted?

Yes, the coreclr.dll may have been corrupted which may be caused by various issues such as an improper shutdown or other software interference.

There was not an improper shutdown, if software interference occurred, how do you find out exactly what it was.

It may be a software that would over-write the coreclr.dll.
