Additional features, settings, or issues not covered by specific Microsoft Teams categories
Hi Mirna Fazah,
Good day! Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum and for sharing the detail. I understand how important it is to have a transcript of your meeting for reference, sharing, or documentation. I’m happy to guide you through a few simple options to help you get your recording transcribed. Please follow the steps below and choose the method that best suits your situation.
1. Use Microsoft Word (One-Time Manual Transcription)
If you prefer to transcribe the audio manually or want to use Word’s built-in transcription feature:
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Click Home > Dictate > Transcribe.
- Upload your audio or video file.
- Word will process the file and display the transcript on the right-hand side.
- You can then insert the transcript into the document or download it.
This is a great option for shorter recordings or if you want to edit the transcript as you go.
2. Upload the Recording to Microsoft Stream (Recommended)
If you have a meeting recording file (e.g., MP4) and want to generate a transcript:
- Go to Office Stream and sign in with your Microsoft 365 account.
- Click Upload and select your meeting recording file.
- Once uploaded, open the video and click the Transcript tab.
- If prompted, select the spoken language and click Generate.
- After processing, the transcript will appear and can be downloaded or copied.
This method works well even if the meeting was recorded outside of Teams or transcription wasn’t enabled during the session.
3. If the Meeting Was Recorded in Microsoft Teams
If your meeting was recorded in Microsoft Teams and transcription was enabled during the session:
- Go to Microsoft Teams and open the meeting chat or channel where the meeting took place.
- Look for the recording and transcript. If transcription was started during the meeting, it will appear alongside the recording.
- Click on the transcript to view, download, or copy the content.
If you don’t see a transcript, it may not have been enabled during the meeting. In that case, please try the next option.
Please feel free to try any of these methods and see which one works best for your needs. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, I’ll be more than happy to help you step by step.
Thank you again for your patience and for choosing Microsoft Q&A forum. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can assist you with. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
