How to Remove Skip Question Option in a Microsoft Forms Quiz

Hi there! I am prepping a simple quiz and I cannot seem to get rid of the "Skip" question option which resides beside the "Submit" button when someone answers incorrectly. MSHELP

I have all questions marked as mandatory (even says mandatory on the page with the little star next to the question indicating as much) and there is absolutely no branching enabled in my quiz. When I do a preview of the quiz it lets me complete it by skipping all or some of the questions and I don't want it to allow that to happen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! You must disable immediate feedback by turning off “Show results automatically” in quiz settings.

If you turn off "show results automatically" this will remove immediate feedback and the skip button. This will also make users complete all required questions before they can submit the entire quiz.

You can also use preview mode to confirm if the SKIP button is gone.

So strange, I turned off the show results automatically the skip button is still there. Thanks for the help either way!

Based on your sharing, the Skip and Show correct answer button prove that you're currently in the Practice mode in Microsoft Forms Quiz. To turn it off, you should navigate to Settings > Toggle off the Practice mode. Then your quiz will work properly like a test.

Hi there, thanks for the response! This SOMEWHAT fixes my problem as outside of practice mode the skip button is gone, but I had it on practice mode intentionally because we want everyone to pass first try without leaving the quiz/form. Essentially, I just want them to be able to guess until they get it right and go to the next question without skipping it. I am assuming this just isn't possible.

We're sorry that we can't meet your requirements now. Unfortunately, the "Skip" button in the Forms Practice mode is by-design feature and cannot be removed by user configuration.

The "Skip" button exists in practice mode is meant to give learners freedom to explore at their own pace: they can focus on what they're struggling rather than completing every item or skip ahead to questions that more interesting/challenging to them. We also want to reduce the pressure which can help people who feel anxious about quizzes or tests by allowing skips.

However, we agree with you that in some situation, Practice mode doesn't need the "Skip" button. If questions can be skipped all so the purpose of practical session is not fulfilled, and it can mistakenly help lazy learners can find a way to skip a test.
