Microsoft Teams Error 500 cannot reach https://teams.microsoft.com

Hello!

I'm having difficulty with the Teams client.  I can login to the website teams.microsoft.com from this workstation, and can login from the app and the website on another workstation on the same network.  However on my workstation I cannot use the teams client.  It starts up and then gives me an error and in the left hand side of the screen it says this error pasted below..  Not sure what to make of it, I have uninstalled, it deleted the folder from Appdata\local restarted, and re-installed.  I've even turned off the Windows Firewall to ensure that a rule wasn't causing the error.

Any thoughts?

Hi Johnwildes,

According to the error, please try the following 2 methods to give it a shot:

1.    Go to your control panel>manager credential> clear the credential (cache). Then re-start your Team client.

2.    Go to the System Tray and right-click on the Teams icon

Select Log Out

The app will go through the motions of logging off and restart, then ask for your credentials. Enter your O365 credentials.

Here I say Office 365 credentials as Microsoft Teams can be signed into with a Microsoft account credentials.

Regards,

Alan

This worked, although the CLEAR CREDENTIAL portion of your message wasn't very clear in the applet.  I manually removed anything that had MSTEAMS listed as a saved Windows Credential.

Restarted the app, still got 500 error, right clicked on the Teams ICON and logged out.

It then presented me with the logon screen again.  I was able to login and Teams is now working.

Probably need a better UX scenario to complete this. I would actually file this as a bug, but I don't have access to that stuff anymore.

    Hello Rocky,

A user over at the Microsoft Tech Community page has a solution that seems to have helped most who have run into Error 500 and it includes a simple step process to fixing the issue. Look at the link below.

1- start the Microsoft mac client Teams

(Obviously it locks to the point that we know ...) but !!!

2- press the dock icon with the right mouse button. It opens a small context menu ...

    "Disconnect" with the voice.

3- disconnect by clicking on the application after a few moments closes.

4- restarting the application this time the credential window opens.

5- At this point you enter the credentials of 365 office ... and ... everything works great !!!

    Hi Johnwildes,

    It is not a bug.

It should be related the cache of the credential manager.

    Regards,

    Alan
