I have a MS team channel with 6 people in the team. How do I get events on each person's outlook calendar to show up on the shared calendar in the channel?

I would like for my 6 team members to share a calendar in our teams channel.

WHen somebody puts a calendar event on thier own Outlook Calendar, I want it to flow to our shared team calendar. This way, nobody has to manually enter anything on the team calendar.

I tried to set this up using Power automate but I am running into a wall and need some help.

The shared calendar is not in my Outlook directory.

I can't see the Calendar URL either so I cannot add it that way.

This is what I tried:

  1. Open Your Flow:
    • Go to Power Automate
  2. Locate the “Create event (V4)” Action:
    • Find the “Create event (V4)” action within your flow. This is the action that creates events in the shared calendar.
  3. Check the Calendar ID:
    • In the “Create event (V4)” action, look for the “Calendar ID” parameter.
    • Ensure that the “Calendar ID” is set to the ID of the shared calendar you want to use. This should be the ID you copied from the shared calendar’s properties in Outlook.

(I can't get this ID).

If I add a shared calendar to the team channel, there is no way to link it up to power automate. There is no way to create a calendar in my personal outlook and then share it to the team channel either.

Is there a different way to accomplish this goal?

Here is an outline, again, of what I am trying to do.

Automation Description:

I want to create an automation that monitors the Outlook calendars of all team members in a specific Microsoft Teams channel and automatically creates corresponding events in the team’s shared calendar. Here are the details:

  1. Trigger:
    • The automation should trigger when a new event is created in any of the individual Outlook calendars of the team members.
  2. Team Members:
    • There are 5 team members whose calendars need to be monitored.
  3. Event Details:
    • The automation should retrieve the details of the new event, including the event title, start time, end time, and description.
  4. Shared Calendar:
    • The automation should create a new event in the team’s shared calendar with the same details as the original event.

    Dear Renee (DOR),

    Greetings!

Thanks for reaching out to this community.

Based on your description, I understand your query about how to get events on each person's outlook calendar to show up on the shared calendar in the channel.

Unfortunately, upon my search and investigation, it may not be feasible to do so because according to See all your meetings in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support, a channel calendar is a filtered view of the Microsoft 365 group calendar that is associated with the team. It only shows the events for a specific channel and not the entire team. And Channel events can only be scheduled and viewed from the Teams app. As a workaround, you may try to add the channel email address as attendee when scheduling a meeting in Outlook. This would generate a post in the channel (but will not add the meeting to channel calendar either.)

We do understand your concern about this feature that how it helps you to improve your efficiency in such daily busy work schedule but as it is related with Teams product design, so it is strongly recommended to submit your valuable feedback directly to Microsoft product development team by either going to Help from your dedicated App > submit Feedback or by posting on Microsoft Teams · Community for feature requests.

Meanwhile, if you have any further concerns specifically related to Power Automate capabilities, **** since Microsoft has specific support channel capabilities for certain scopes and different support attributes and we provide some limited knowledge about some aspects of the scenarios, I recommend posting your concerns in the appropriate community.
