It seems, I have the same issue with 2-digits code, i.e. it does not come to my new phone.
May you please specify how you were able to manage resolving the issue by setting up my phone through the Teams app on my laptop?

changed my phone, need to reload the Teams app to access messages. When I enter my email address, phone opens the authenticator app and gives a 2 digit code and says "open your authenticator app, and enter the number shown to sign in". However, there is no way to enter the number and I'm already in the authenticator app. I've tried the 'can't use authenticator app' link, but none of the options given work for me such as use a verification code (where do I get that code) and if I select the phone option I don't receive any call
