Teams Approvals Missing Attachments

About a week ago we got reports from our end users that attachments are missing from approvals summitted though the approvals app within the team client. We use the approvals app within our teams clients for a basic approvals workflow. The end user selects approvals from the left hand pane in Team > selects "New approvals request" > enters a name for the request > enter an approver > attach a file for review & clicks send. The file seems to upload to the approval request ok but once the approval is summitted the attachment is missing and the approver or submitter can't see it. We have tried the three options for attaching a file (upload, onedrive & link) all have the same result. We have also tested this with the New teams client and the classic teams client but issue is present on both versions. As i said this was working without issues up in till very recently.

Anyone else having the same problem in their environment? It is easy to replicate as you can send an approval to yourself.

    Hi Muhammad,

Check the fix in this post (also below) - Attachments not showing in Approvals in Teams - Microsoft Q&A

This fixed the issue in our environment but please be aware it can take up 24 hours for the changes to take effect after running the update. It took about 6 hours for the change to take effect in our environment.

    Cheers,

    Tin,

I'm also facing the issue. We've tried what you've suggested but we can confirm that none of these worked. Behavior is consistent across Mac and Windows users, along with Android and iOS. We've tried reinstalling the software in PC/Macs, and Phones, reformatted devices, etc--but did not fix the issue.

    Dear KPFrancois

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with attachments missing from approvals submitted through the Approvals app within the Teams client. This issue has been reported by some users and Microsoft is currently investigating the root cause of the problem.

In the meantime, you can try a few workarounds to see if they help resolve the issue.

    • Try using the Approvals app in the web version of Teams instead of the desktop client.
    • Try uploading the attachment to OneDrive or SharePoint and then sharing the link to the file in the approval request.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. If you are still experiencing this behavior, please also inform me of the following information:

    • Information about the version of Teams that you are using.
    • Does this behavior occur in different Teams?

We look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
