Where is the option to "keep source formatting" when pasting slides into your PowerPoint 2019 for mac presentation?

In Powerpoint 2019 (version 16.25 19042415) for Mac, when I try pasting slides from another presentation, inserting slides from the Insert menu, etc. I am not given any option to keep the formatting, it just pastes the slides and adapts to the theme of the file I am pasting into. That's not what I want...I want to bring in slides from another presentation and KEEP the formatting/colors/etc...

Before suggesting the solution in this thread, this function does not exist.

This is the only function visible when trying to paste slides from another presentation.

Selecting Paste Special provides this dialog and selecting Slides pastes the copied slides with the destination formatting only.

I have since got a work around from the developer team. The steps are:

    1. Open both presentations
    2. Copy the slides you want transferred.
    3. Paste the slides into the destination presentation. They will show the destination formatting.
    4. While the newly pasted slides are still selected, click on the little clipboard icon when it shows and from the drop down menu, select "Keep Source Formatting". The newly pasted slides will show the source formatting.

In the meantime, they are trying to find the cause of the problem.

I just tested this on 16.25 (19042415) and was able to use "Keep Source Formatting" from the drop down menu. It seems like there may an issue with your install rather than the build itself.

Lets try doing an uninstall and reinstall of just PowerPoint. You can follow the steps here to uninstall PowerPoint - you can ignore anything related to the other Office apps on that page - then restart your Mac and reinstall. Let us know if that resolves this.

Reinstalling Powerpoint appears to have resolved the problem. The reinstall version was 16.24. The functions required were there.

Updated to 16.26 and the functions have disappeared again. The functions have clearly been deleted by Microsoft from version 16.25.

How do I now import slides from another presentation and retain the source formatting?

The functionality should not have changed.

Use the Smile button in PowerPoint to send a Smile to the development team ASAP.  They need to know about this before the release goes live to everyone.
