Can't set From: alias while composing

Is this correct?  Send email from an alias

I am using this,

https://outlook.office.com/owa

and I can never choose Froman alias.  The only choice is my primary address.   Whether composing or replying, whatever address the inbound message was sent to, same behavior.

My Office365 is with GoDaddy Email Essentials and GoDaddy chat said they don't have this feature.

It's a significant drawback.   And there is actually nothing displayed concerning which alias any incoming message arrived at.  How is a discrepancy possible between that first support link and my experience?

When I go to Office 365 Admin Center Preview,

Users,

Active Users,

then there's a list containing my primary user (with Status = Exchange Online Essentials)

On selecting that user, a panel of properties is shown, including Aliases:  three different ones, at my domain.

Also, my aliases are 2 or more days old.

There is also another way to see aliases.

Within that properties panel, near the bottom, there is Edit Exchange Properties.

That goes to a page titled Edit User Mailbox at https://outlook.office365.com/ecp/UsersGroups/EditMailbox.aspx...etc

Under the section "email address" it lists the primary address and aliases.

It says "Each email address type has one default reply address. The default reply address is displayed in bold. To change the default reply address, select the email address that you want to set as the default, and then double-click to edit it."

That is fairly consistent with the behavior I see, but not the desirable feature, in that first support link.

Thanks.   My question was about a desire to send "from an alias".  The resolution is the support document has been revised into sending from different connected accounts (that is also possible in other clients like Thunderbird or iOS Mail).  So aliases are one-way, not what I hoped.

Concerning the document from slipstick.com, it was possible for me to create a distribution group, but my Outlook is missing the Group Delegation capability.   So there was no chance of sending From the group.

This is by design, in Exchange you can only send via your Primary SMTP alias. There are some workarounds you can use, such as creating a shared mailbox/DG with the alias you want to use and granting yourself Send As permissions. Or you can also use some 3rd party add-ins that enable this, but those come at a price.

Here's an article explaining your options: http://www.slipstick.com/office-365/send-messages-secondary-office-365-exchange-addresses/
