Is this correct? Send email from an alias
I am using this,
https://outlook.office.com/owa
and I can never choose Froman alias. The only choice is my primary address. Whether composing or replying, whatever address the inbound message was sent to, same behavior.
My Office365 is with GoDaddy Email Essentials and GoDaddy chat said they don't have this feature.
It's a significant drawback. And there is actually nothing displayed concerning which alias any incoming message arrived at. How is a discrepancy possible between that first support link and my experience?
When I go to Office 365 Admin Center Preview,
Users,
Active Users,
then there's a list containing my primary user (with Status = Exchange Online Essentials)
On selecting that user, a panel of properties is shown, including Aliases: three different ones, at my domain.
Also, my aliases are 2 or more days old.
There is also another way to see aliases.
Within that properties panel, near the bottom, there is Edit Exchange Properties.
That goes to a page titled Edit User Mailbox at https://outlook.office365.com/ecp/UsersGroups/EditMailbox.aspx...etc
Under the section "email address" it lists the primary address and aliases.
It says "Each email address type has one default reply address. The default reply address is displayed in bold. To change the default reply address, select the email address that you want to set as the default, and then double-click to edit it."
That is fairly consistent with the behavior I see, but not the desirable feature, in that first support link.

Hi Plequi,
Thanks for the updates.
For the first time we use the email address which we have Send As permission of to send emails in OWA(Outlook Web App), we need to follow the steps below:
Click on the primary email address, press the Backspace key on the keyboard to delete the primary email, then type the DG email address in the field.
The next time you want to send emails using the DG, you can just click From to select it.
Let us know if any further assistance needed.
Best Regards,
Aaron
I have done as Lance described. The group delegation options appear for me now. However, about an hour after I changed that, I can't select From the group while composing or replying. From is limited to the primary account. Maybe Lance could show a screen capture of dg1 appearing as From.
Hi Plequi,
Any updates?
Thanks,
Aaron
Hi Plequi,
About the Distribution Group configuration, you need to login to EAC to set up the details.
After creating the Distribution Group, I suggest you do these two things:
To make these changes, click the Pencil icon to open the group for editing. If you want to allow anyone on the internet to send mail to this address, select delivery management and choose Senders inside and outside of my organization.
After Save that, outsiders can send emails to the group address.
Then select group delegation. Add your account under Send As. Click Save to save the changes and close the dialog.
After setting up all above, if you have already configured the Office 365 account in Outlook, then you will be able to send emails from the group.
Thanks,
Lance
