    Hi,

I do see what you mean. The folder size looks like it's at it most left, but the vertical bar between the list of messages and the preview pane (where the message is displayed) does look like it should be able move over to the left some more.

    Anyway, you do have options!

First of all make sure you are on the View tab. Click the 'Reset View' button and then click the confirmation.

See if this makes any difference to you being able to move the vertical bars to the left?

If not, you can always double click on a message in the message list and this will bring up that message on it's own in a new window which will fill your entire screen when maximised.

Another option is, whilst still on the View tab, go along the Toolbar until you see 'Reading Pane' button. Click this and then click 'Bottom'. This will put the Reading Pane at the bottom of the screen, under the message list. Both will stretch all the way across to the Folder column. You might need to place your cursor over the horizontal separator bar and drag this bar upwards to be able to see the reading pane better. Whilst this will definitely give you a better width, you might find the compromised height to be just as bad.

If you don't like this view either, simply click the Reading Pane button on the toolbar and then click 'Right' and this will put the reading pane back to the right of the message list.

Finally, another option would be to minimise the Folder pane. Looking at the Folder Column, at the top you will see this type of arrow < Click this and it will minimise the Folder pane. To bring it back you will need to press the > arrow. You will also need to pin it in place by then pressing the Pin icon where the arrow used to be. This will fix the Folder pane back to how it was.

I hope at least one of these options you find useful. I think you are having difficulty because of your computer screen size and the resolution it is set too. If you had a higher resolution monitor, you would find you had much more space to view emails.

    Kindest regards,

    Neil

    Dear Neil,

Thanks a lot. So it seems that 2 view issues that I ahve to live with in Outlook:

    1. unnecessarily wide columns in e mail view, and
    2. One vertical month on the calendar.

You and others have been kindly trying to help but I think there is internal Microsoft problems.

Now I am kicking myself for complaining about old Lotus Notes! It had so many useful and easy to handle features that Outlook failed to exhibit.

I am thinking about getting a new laptop and seriously contemplating switching totally to Apple.

    Anyway Thanks a lot.
