MailboxNotEnabledForRESTAPI error for an Office 365 paid mailbox

I am trying to access the mailbox using the graph API but it's throwing the following error message

code: 'MailboxNotEnabledForRESTAPI',

message: 'The mailbox is either inactive, soft-deleted, or is hosted on-premise.'

}

We do have a paid license.
