Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi Vinit_727,
Good day.
Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.
I understand that you accidentally closed a draft email in Outlook without saving it, and now it’s not visible in your Draft or Deleted folders. Let’s explore some options to recover it:
Check Unsaved Files:
- If you were using the Outlook desktop client, there’s a chance that the unsaved draft might be stored in temporary files. You can check the following locations:
-
C:\Users\[Your Profile]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles -
C:\Users\[Your Profile]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\ -
C:\Users\[Your Profile]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\ -
C:\Users\[Your Profile]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\
-
Recover Deleted Items:
- In Outlook, go to the Deleted Items folder.
- At the top of the message list, select “Recover deleted items from this folder”.
- If the draft is there, you can restore it.
Remember that recovering a draft email after accidental deletion can be challenging, especially if it wasn’t saved.
If you’re still having trouble, you can try contacting Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn the support team will have access to assist remotely and collect logs to investigate the issue from the back end.
I hope this helps let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.
Best Regards,
