Same problem for me. Has been working fine for months. Now all of the sudden it's giving me auth failures. To complicate it even more I have two emails from the same IMAP email provider. One account is working fine and the other is getting the failed auth error. All the settings are identical and the provider does not require an app password. I can log in to their webmail with no issue so I know the credentials are good.
Thanks for your prompt reply but this is not helping me at all. I've spent hours trying to fix this without success. I have another IMAP account with the same server "hostinger" and it works perfectly like this account worked until few days ago...IMAP settings and password are correct, as i told you this account works perfect in other email aplications (in my mobile phone for an example). What i notice is that by default imap and smtp host are using my old server 1&1 but i change this always to imap.hostinger.com and smtp.hostinger.com so i think that perhaps is not recognizing my changes and is trying to connect to 1&1 instead so that is why a get this error. Is there any way to delete old stored data? I deleted the account and tried to configure it from scratch, i uninstalled the entire aplication and re-installed it again but nothing changes...im nearly sure there's something wrong by your side...
Regards.
Dear Gustavo Masulli,
Thanks for your reply.
You may consider delete old cache in New Outlook and configure from scratch.
Press Win+R run the command olk.exe --clearLocalState
Restart your computer, open Outlook, reconfigure your IMAP mailbox.
I wonder if this solution is helpful to you.
Looking forward to your timely response, I will continue to follow up on your question here.

Dear Gustavo Masulli,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
According to your description, you are having trouble adding an IMAP account in Outlook. Please correct if I've misunderstood.
Since you're getting an INVALIDCREDENTIALS INTERACTIONREQUIRED error, it indicates a problem with the IMAP settings or the password.
Double-check the IMAP settings (server address, port, encryption method) to ensure they match exactly what your email provider requires.
If you want to add some supported third-party accounts such as gmail, yahoo and iCloud, enter your address and this will switch to the login website page and allow your account to connect to the Microsoft Cloud.
For other third-party accounts, after you enter the address, you will automatically switch to the IMAP login interface.
If you need to configure your IMAP account manually, the detailed processes are listed below:
Open Outlook
Select Settings
Select Add Mail
Enter your IMAP address and select Cancel
Select Advanced Setup
Select IMAP and show more, make sure server and port, secure connection types are all correct.
Then click "Continue" to connect.
For now, Some IMAP service providers require a one-time specific generated app password. The password verifies that your Outlook app is secure enough for accessing your email. You can check if you have received an email from your IMAP provider that inform you of this, or contact theirs technical support to confirm this.
I hope it would be helpful to you.
My first reply doesn't always solve your problem, so please feel free to contact any time to let me how it goes. I will continue to follow up on your question here.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
