Windows 10 Data Usage Limit Very High

I have a client who's Data limit usage runs 4728.36 GB we can scale back but meanwhile why is this so high? Scanned for Malware found no issues. It is not a Windows Update.

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

Having the same issue with several users with a Probook 450 G7 Windows 10 machine. Any solutions? System shows excessively high and no malware found on full system or root kit scan. Users log off everyday...

Hi,

You can check the data usage in Windows 10 by following the following steps:

1. Use the Windows key + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.
2. Click Network & Internet.
3. Click Data usage. Under Overview, you'll see the total data usage from the last 30 days for Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections.
4. Click the Usage details link to view network data usage for all your applications installed on your computer.

Example:

By visiting date usage details page in settings will reduce the data consumption ?

Hi,
Windows Update runs on a Peer to Peer network, you download updates form hundreds of PC's around the world and at the same time, hundreds of PC's are taking those updates form your PC, this can result in very large data usage by Windows Updates.

Open the Settings App
Go to Update and Security - Windows Updates - Advanced Options
Click Delivery Optimization
Turn off all options you find there.

If you are running version 1803 of Windows 10, click 'Advanced Options' on that Delivery Optimization page
Pull all sliders to the left.

Hope it helps.

Best regards
Cherry

It has been more than a month, peer to peer is turned off, we are still getting huge data usage from system 4981.9 Gb on this machine.
On a sister machine for the month only 119.9 Gb

So we are back to wondering why so high

under task manager services disable the BITS services, It worked for me.
else under resource monitor u can track the service with most data usage speed and disable it to reduce.

@Rakeshk-3146,
In the task manager, can you once again check under services section, from the screenshots that i have put, also u can open the resource monitor and under the network section you can check the service with most usage, since you have mentioned it is system, it will be svc.host service. Which can be shut by disabling the BITS. BITS is necessary service in windows to get updates so it will be present, please make sure you look it thoroughly. BITS IS ACRONYM TO "BACKGROUND INTELLIGENT TRANSFER SERVICE"

@bharadwajgooty-5827
Thanks for the reply....
Like you mentioned SVC.host service was the culprit.
After Intense searching I found the BITS hidden under SERVICE HOST in Task Mng.
Followed your step, will post the result in about a couple of days!!!

This method worked....
BUT
The next time I turned on my PC it was reset and I had to do it again....
Is there something that I can do to stop it from reverting back???

0 Votes 0 ·

Make sure you are following the screenshots. The last step of disable will make it off but at times it reverts back but thats rare.

Actually from the screenshots, u can observe a section called recovery, there set after the first failure take no action and consequently also take no action, so it wont restart the service again, hope this works...
