Text alignment changes after paste

When I copy a shape (e.g rectangle) that has some text inside and the text is left aligned, from a presentation and paste in into another presentation in majority of the files in keeps the left alignment, but in some files the alignment of the text changes to center alignment. This is not related to a specific computer and it seems to be a setting in a specific file because when this happens no matter on which users’ computer I test it with the same destination file the result is the same.

Any suggestions what settings might affect this ?

Best regards, Harvey

Check if you have applied any slide masters or template or a theme to the particular presentation.

Refer the link below to check if any of these are applied:

This is part of a complex addin which has specific templates and color/font theme , but this applies to 1000s of presentations that are created based on this addin. I have seem this problem in only one file ( from one user who says once in a while he sees this problem in his files) , so this shouldnt be related to master or theme which are identical among all presentations created by this addin. As I mentioned before this is not related to a specififc machine either because no matter in which machine you open that file you see the same behavior.

I had to use a few addition lines of code to correct this after pasting the shapes, but I was wondering what could cause this problem or what kind of setting might create this strange behavior.

I start thinking this might be a bug in set as default shape  in 07 .

    Harvey,

You know, I've run in to this behavior before. Let me see if I can recreate it and try to provide some assistance...

    Sandy,

That was the first thing I checked , default text box was center aligned , but even after I changed it to left aligned and set it as default still it didn't fix the problem .

Now in this particular file, if we insert a text box from the ribbon command the text is left aligned as we expect, but when I copy a shape from another Presentaion that has a text iniside, and the text is left aligned and paste it into this specific file the alignment changes to center.

I also right clicked the shape and after changing the text alignment to left and setting it as default shape I pasted one more time but again the text alignment changed to center.

I suspect there is a setting in PP that causes this behavior in this paticular file but I can't find it !

Is the default shape / text box center aligned in the offending presentation?  Perhaps your rectangle is taking on the default formatting of that pres.
