Depends on how you bought it. Here are some images:

How to identify the product key

Microsoft product keys contain 25 characters that are typically divided into groups of 5.

Where to locate the product key

The product key is typically located on an orange or yellow sticker on the back of the CD case or the DVD case. If the Windows operating system that you are using was preinstalled by your computer manufacturer, you may find the Windows product key sticker on the computer. To find the product key for a full version, check the following locations:

·Sticker on the CD case or other packaging.

    ·Certificate of Authenticity.

·Confirmation e-mail message that was received from an online purchase.

·Retail perpetual product key, located inside the new Product Key Card available at retail stores.

·Retail perpetual product key, purchased online from Office Online (http://office.microsoft.com) with the full download of Office.

If you still cannot find the product key for your full version,

Make sure that you store the product key together with the product CD or DVD in a safe location in case you have to reinstall the product in the future. The product cannot be reinstalled without both the product key and the CD or DVD.

Product keys are specific to their software products. For example, you cannot use a Windows product key to unlock a Microsoft Office product.

Did you install and activate it already?  If you did, you don't need it again, it is already associated with your email account in the MyAccount site:

Why do you mention Word only, did you buy a standalone copy, unlikely, or did you buy it in a bundle?  Exactly what bundle?

If you lost it before using it, MS is going to say "tough noogies".  It is roughly equivalent to going to the back, withdrawning a $100 bill, then losing it in the street.  Do you think the bank is going to do anything to help you ... ?

Have you changed email accounts you are using for the reply?

Look Gale, this question was marked as "answered" 2 years ago!  If that answer does not work for you, please start a new question so you can provide us with full background information on your environment.

Specifically exactly which Office bundle you are talking about. And the Windows version helps us provide version specific instructions (if necessary).

If you are talking about Office 365 or 2016, you don't need the Product Key after the initial activation. You control installs from the MyAccount site.

If you are talking about Office 2013, if you can't find the product key you are FUBAR.  Without the key you can't install and activate it and MS won't provide it to you.  There is a tiny chance you may have used the option registration to the MyAccount site. Try logging in there to see if your 2013 is registered.

If you have 2010 or earlier you may be able to extract the key from the old computer.
