Whenever I try to open a Microsoft Office file or application I receive the error that "microsoft office client virtualization handler has stopped working" When I try to uninstall the Microsoft office program or the Click to run option I get the same error. No option appears that allows me to attempt to repair the file. I had been using the free trial and had purchased the full program, but this error is also not allowing me to update or install the download I purchased.

I found something else. "Fix it for me".

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 scroll down to Office 2010 suits and click on it and follow the stepps. after you run it, a windows like the MSDOS pops up when you got this it takes a while but it works.

Finaly it is gone!

Refer the article below to uninstall traces of Office 2010 from the computer.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218

Note: In the article replace Office 12 by Office 14 for Office 2010. Read the disclaimer before modifying the registry.

Me too, same as Perdue121.  The instructions on

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/update-repair-or-uninstall-office-click-to-run-HA010382089.aspx

did not help because trying to change created the same original "stopped working" message.

    I'm also running Vista.

Hi thank-you for the link, unfortunately nothing from the page was able to help.

My problem is that anytime I click change or uninstall I get the same message as if I tried to just use the program. Whenever I try to change/uninstall I get the Microsoft office client virtualization handler has stopped working.

So I need a different way to remove or repair the file before I can do anything.

I am currently running Windows Vista.
