OK -- looks like the problem may be solved.

I Unchecked "Business Contact Manager for Outlook" in the Add-in list and I am no longer getting the error message.

How can I tell what functionality this causes me to loose?  Where are the Add-ns documented?

I suppose that if you don't know what the BCM does, that you will not

miss the application. You can uninstall it if you don't use it.

See for some information:

    When I open an email I get this version of the message:

    Title: Custom UIRuntime Error in Business Contact Manager for Outlook

    The message is "The call to GetCustomUI() for RibbonID 'Microsoft.Outlook.Mail.Read' failed"

    Button choices are OK and OK to All. When I choose OK to all there are no more messages for the rest of the Outlook session.  If I click OK I keep getting a message for just about anything I do.

    For instance, clicking on an appoint met gets this message:

    The call to GetCustomUI() for RibbonID "Microsoft.Outlook.Appointment" failed

    I guess there is an add-in that is causing this error. Disable add-ins

    to see if you can find out which one it is.

    File -> options -> add-ins -> manage....

    I found one add-in labeled "Toolbar Commands" which I have tried to delete by right clicking on it and choosing delete. It goes away for that session, but reappears the next time I open Outlook. How do I delete it permanently?

    When I click on the add-in it puts the highlighted email into One-Note. I guess it is left over from my efforts three or four weeks ago at trying to figure out whether One-Note would be of help to me. I gave up on it at that time, thinking I might look at it again later.

    Can you supply more details?  What were you doing when this happened?  Is that the complete and unmodified error message?
