office update: cannot close program "system"

When I try to run the Office 2013 update on Win 8, an error message tells me to Close some programs.

All programs are closed. But not the program "system".

What can I do?

    I'm having the same problem, with the "system" program. I checked it in task manager, as stated above it cannot be "ended" in task manager.

    I tried to update from the File>Account>Update Option>Apply Updates, which was highlighted in yellow and said:

    Office Updates

    Updates for this product are ready to install.

    Version: 15.0.4517.1509
