Under the Control Panel mouse options, I have the "Hide pointer while typing" option unchecked. And yet, the pointer still disappears while I type, and doesn't reappear until I move the mouse. (I'm using Word 2010.) So, basically, Word hides the pointer while I type, whether I have the "Hide pointer while typing" option checked or unchecked. Anybody have a solution to this problem?
By the way, this is a problem across multiple Word documents. Not a problem when typing on the Web or in Excel.

Unfortunately there is no setting within word to change this behavior. As the pointer works fine in the Guest user profile and failed to work in non-guest account. You may also consider posting in the below forum to check if there are any administrator privileges causing the issue:

I've been through the touchpad settings; no luck.
Haven't tried all of the fixes in the link you provided, but I will.
The one thing that works is if I create a Guest user account and access Word through that, then the pointer responds correctly. But if I create another non-guest user account with either standard or administrator privileges, the pointer still has the same problem.
I wouldn't mind using the Guest account all the time, but you can't assign a Guest account administrator privileges, which just creates a new set of problems for me.
Drivers are up to date. It's definitely an interaction between the touchpad and Word. I've even tried it across different versions of Word: 2007, 2010, and 2013...same problem in each case. If it were a hardware problem, you'd think it would occur with other applications, but it doesn't.

did you try all the steps from the above link??
Try to decrease the sensitivity of touch-pad and also check if high contrast in checked.
