cannot access notebook cache file

After logging into one of my notebooks, I receive an error code 0xE00000D0 stating "Critical error: OneNote cannot access the notebook cache file for an unknown reason. Possible reasons might include a change in the file permissions or a serious disk error. OneNote will now exit. For further assistance contact technical support."

When logging into other notebooks the error does not occur. While trying to create a tag summary yesterday the program kept freezing so I closed it then left it alone. What is the issue?

I'd try renaming the OneNote cache file. You could delete it - but I think it's safer to rename it. OneNote will automatically recreate it for you.

There was an option in safeboot to clear cache. I chose that and it worked!

Easy fix. I appreciate your time and advice.

It's easier to delete the cache:

    RUN onenote.exe /safeboot

Select the option to delete the cache.

Then re-open your notebooks to re-create the cache.
