Don:

Just to confirm, that error message text is associated with the Code 5-11?

The message indicates that the system cannot find it's hidden copy of the installation files that are used for repairs and other "good stuff".   Those files may have been "accidentally" deleted by any number of "cleanup" utilities.

Exactly how did you buy and install Office?

Did you buy a product key to "activate" the factory installed trial of 365?

Exactly which Office bundle did you buy, one of the "Office 365 ???" or "Office 2013 ??? " bundles?

All of which is leading to the suggestion that you uninstall and re-install, and take the short cut to using method 1 in this tip to do the uninstall

KB 2739501 Uninstall Office 2013 / 365 - Method 1 Fix It

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501  Office 2013, Office 365 and Office 2013 Preview uninstalls

(sorry, they have re-written the tip since I first looked at it!)

  • Method 1: Uninstall using Fix it

Note: If you are using a 64-bit operating system, save the fixit tool on the system and then run it from the saved location.

  • Method 2: Uninstall from Control Panel
  • Method 3: Remove manually

Method 1 in this tip does a more thorough job that the “normal” uninstall via Programs and Features (aka Method 2 in the tip). The Normal uninstall is designed with the assumption that you will be re-installing Office. It does NOT delete everything. It leaves configuration files like NORMAL.DOTM and other templates etc. and it also leaves configuration Registry entries. These “carry-overs” may contain corruption that is causing your problem.

Boot the computer. After the restart go to http://office.com/myaccount to re-install Office 365.

NOTE: BEFORE you uninstall, if you have an "Office 2013" bundle make sure you have your 25 character product key. If you have "Office 365", make sure you can access the MyAccount page

Hi,

What is the exact error message?

Try uninstalling Office by using the Microsoft Troubleshooter and then re-install.

Refer this article to remove the Office suite:

Once Office is removed, go to this link http://www.office.com/myaccount  to reinstall Office on the same PC.

If the issue still persists, refer to the suggestions in the following KB article and check if it helps:

I'm having the same issue.  The error message says "Access denied to installation source.  Sorry, we ran into a problem accessing a required file. Please check that the installation source has the correct permissions, then try again."

Can you give further information on what to do?  I'm trying to fix the help system on my installation, which hasn't worked from day one.
