When I try to split the database (Move data - access database) it only gives me the option as saving it as a Microsoft Access Signed Package. When I try to open the back end, it states

A potential security convcern as been identified. The origin of this content cannot be verified. The file is missing a digital signature and cannot be opened.  Thank you for your help

In 22 years of using Access I confess I have never used the wizard to split a database.  However, I just tried it now in Access 2013 (15.0.4663.1000) and it worked fine, so I can't say what the problem is on your computer.

However, it is easy to split a database manually - I have done it hundreds of times:

  1. Take a backup copy of the database.
  2. Take another copy of the database and rename it as the back-end (e.g. MyDatabase Data.accdb)
  3. Open the new back-end and delete all the objects EXCEPT the tables.
  4. Open the original database (which is now the front-end) and delete all the tables (except the system tables - MSys* - if they are visible)
  5. Use External data > Import & Link > Access to link all the tables from the back-end to the front-end.

Good luck!

I find that it's just as easy - and in cases like this more effective - to simply open the frontend; DELETE all the table links; and use External Data... Access... Link to create new links to the backend. This is especially helpful if there have been any design changes to the table structures (new fields, for example); the Linked Table Manager seems to get messed up in such cases, but the new links pretty much always work.

When I split the date base, now others in my office can use it at the same time- which is great- however, we can't save our changes- which is not great-  We all work from a drive on our network- So when people access 2013 ACCESS, they simply click on the file and it opens up the datebase(not Access itself- but OUR database).  I'm not sure what step I missed along the way, but I want people to be able to change the forms and access queries while others are in the database at the same time-  Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I think you would then re-link the front end to the newly named back-end.
