This has been a bane of mine since I bought a Goflex drive years ago. It would appear in Windows Explorer upon system boot up and later vanish for no reason. The only way to get it back was a system reboot

I now a have a Synology NAS with SMb enabled. Windows 10 has network Discovery enable.. For awhile it has worked fine, now it's doing the same!!. Has anyone fixed this yet???

Sorry to say the above didn't help. But I did get it to work, "so far," by re installing the, "Disk Station Manager," software. Not sure if it will last, but here's hoping. it also through the techs at Synology a puzzle as when I run, "Synology Assistant," on this PC, it can't find it. But my other PC finds it right away.

BTW: I saw a message on here somewhere about turning on e-mail notifications. I used to get them but don't anymore, how can I enable this!!

Thank you for all of your assistance!

    Hi ,

Before going further, I would appreciate your help in clarifying the following situations:

    1. What's the OS version of your windows 10? 2004 or 20h2?
    2. Where did you see NAS vanishes ? From Windows Explorer > Network? If you map NAS as a network drive on your windows 10 machine, could it work fine? Please do a check.
    3. When Synology nas drive vanishes, could you access NAS directly from UNC path in windows explorer? E.g. \ip address\share If not, what's the exact error messagge?
    4. In addition ,you can enable SMB1 to see whether the symptom still occurs.

20H2 is installed. The NAS vanishes from Windows explorer and network. If I type it's address into Edge the DSM pops up immediately showing me that it is accessible. However in windows explorer I type in \ds920 the network diagnostic routine starts and tells me it doesn't exist.

When it does work it will list all of the folders on the NAS like this

    When it doesn't:

    Hi ,

Let's try to narrow down the issue:

    1. First connect to your Synology NAS from Windows File Explorer via IP address, see if you can access NAS with \IP address. Make sure you can ping IP address of Synology NAS successfully.
    2. If you still cannot access NAS with \IP address, please post the exact error message.
    3. Enable SMB 1.0 on your windows 10 machine.

    4. If the above steps still don't work, Please check SMBclient log on windows 10 to see if there are something related for us to do troubleshoot.

    Candy.

Remember me mentioning that Synology Assistant wasn't see my Nas on the wired PC but could on the wireless on. Well I figured it out today but can't understand it. I said I turned off Malware bytes and Windows defender and it still didn't work.

Well I was messing around and disabled my PC's wireless interface. Tried Synology Assistant and a Window popped up asking if I wanted Windows defender to allow SA to pass. Saying yes and SA found the NAS. I re enabled the wireless and it still works.

    Will never understand the logic!
