Office install error code 3-4

My computer did an auto download of 8.1.  Since then my office suite has not worked.  I have uninstalled the office program but I cannot re-install it.  I get the "something went wrong" message with error code: 3-4.  I have no idea how to eliminate these error codes or what they mean.  Any help out there would be appreciated.

Absolutely nothing works. I cannot uninstall Word  2013. I'm off to LibreOffice as I need to get my work done.

Please post a fix that actually works.

Well, here it is, a few months later, many uninstalls, uses of Microsoft "FixIT" and CCleaner, I now have Office 2016 and I still cannot install and run Word or Excel properly.

Meanwhile Office Libre is running just beautifully. I am soooooo sick and tired of Microsoft's incompetence that keeps going and going and going without abatement. A multi billion dollar company that cannot offer software with problem free installations, year after year after year.

Same problem here - no solutions could fix this.

While the background-installer Office was running I had to shut down the PC. Since then my PC could not install any program because "there was another installation running". I searched for solutions and rebooting Windows installer did nothing. I tried to re-install Office 365 but here i ran into errors like: 3-4 & another 01...... error.

The Problemsolver/ Office deleter did not fix it. Neither am I possible to delete the microsoft office 15 folder because "it is opened in another window or because it being used by another program". I rebooted the PC a couple of times but it could not help.

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Here is the link to uninstall Microsoft Office 2013/365.

Note Save the FIXIT before running it if you’re working on a 64 bit Windows.

Once you have completed running the FIXIT follow these steps to delete the Office 15 folders:

    • From Windows Explorer please navigate to the following location: *C:\Propgram Files* or *C:\Program Files (x86)*
    • Make sure to delete the Microsoft Office 15 folder.
    • In case you are able to delete the folder then right-click on it and click on Rename. Rename the folder as Microsoft Office 15 old. Ignore these steps in case you are not able to find the Microsoft Office 15 folder in the above mentioned location.
    • Once you have completed running the FIXIT and deleted/renamed the Office 15 folder be sure to restart your computer.
    • Now try logging into the My Account page and install Office 2013.
    • The URL for the My Account page is http://office.com/myaccount

Check if you were able to download and install Office 2013 successfully. Once this is completed check if Office 2013 prompts you for activation. If yes, proceed with the steps on screen and activate Office 2013.

Please try the above steps and let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

    Hello Walter,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Thank you for your patience. I see that you have been facing issues with reinstalling Office 2013. I will be helping you in resolving this issue.

Office may not reinstall due to the presence of a previous version of Office or corrupt remnants of Office on the computer. In order to resolve this issue it is best to reinstall the Office 2013 suite by first un-installing the remnants of the previous installations/versions of Office. Follow the steps in this article to uninstall the remnants of Office. Once it’s removed, go to your My Account page to reinstall Office.

Try the above steps and let us know if it helps to resolve the issue on your computer.

    Thank you.
