External User Invitations status incorrect

hi,

across the xxx tenant we share allot of our information with third party suppliers and contractors. 

we turn on the 'sharing' feature for individual sites if they require sharing so it is set to 'allow external users who accept sharing invitations and sign in as authenticated users'. we have noticed an issue earlier today as one of our site admins noticed that the status of the sharing invitation (in the pending section) shows 'pending(expires in 86 days)'. i have tested across other sites and can confirm that the invitation expires after 90 days. i believe the default expiry date for our tenant was 7 days(?). 

please can you advise how to resolve this issue?

    currently, there is no announcement about the changing of the expire time feature. we will keep you updated if we get any information. in addition, if you have any concerns about it, you can share your ideas with our engineering team via user voice. features will be updated based on the customers' constructive comments.

    Hi,

    When was this implemented? I have not received any pre-warning update regarding this.

    Can you advised why this changed? I believe a 7 day window was a suitable window as the External Invitation list was almost 'self managed'.

    hi callum,

    currently, an update is deployed to sharepoint online and the invitation expire time has changed to 90 days. it is not feasible to change back to 7 days. for the detailed information, refer to:  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/share-sites-or-documents-with-people-outside-your-organization-80e49744-e30f-44db-8d51-16661b1d4232

    Please can you advise when this changed and if we were notified? (I can't find anything in the message center).

    This needs to be changed back to 7 days.
