OneDrive for Business Sync Problem Error Code=0x80004005; Error source=Groove

Hello,

I'm experiencing problems with OneDrive for Business file synchronization on one of my Windows 7 Pro workstations and on my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 device.  I have OneDrive for Business working correctly on one of my Windows 7 Pro workstations with the new OneDrive for Business client.  I'm also able to connect to my OneDrive for Business files via my iPhone client.

I have already attempted the usual fix/repair steps suggested in the community forums and I have tried using the FixIt tool to automatically clear the OneDrive cache.  It appears to synchronize normally when I initiate synchronization from within my Office 365 OneDrive for Business online portal.  It enumerates a number of folders and then reports "We couldn't synchronize this library."

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Dave2U2

Hi Dave2U2,

To troubleshoot the issue, could you try the following steps and share the outcome?

1.Update your OneDrive for Business 2016 app (the latest version is 16.0.6001.1061 ) and check the outcome. To update it: Open any Office app such as Word > File> Account > Under Product Information, click Update Options > Update Now.

2.Close the Office applications on your computer and then kill your Office processes in the Task Manager, such as groove.exe which is OneDrive for Business, msouc.exe, msosync.exe, officelibrary sync. And then delete the contents in the following folders. To check the following folders, you need to change the username to yours.

C:\Users*username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Spw*

C:\Users*username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\OfficeFileCache*

Note: If one or two items cannot be deleted, that's OK.

If the steps couldn't help, to investigate the issue, you may share the info Ryan confirmed above and check if you could sync the OneDrive for Business library via OneDrive for Business 2016 on another PC.

If there is any update, please let us know.

Thanks,

Felix

    Hi Dave2U2,

We’d like to confirm the following information before moving forward:

    2. Check OneDrive for Business version. To do this, open Task Manager > right click on OneDrive for Business > Properties > Details.

    Regards,

    Ryan
