Old hat at VBA, Old hat at PPT but new to PPT and VBA combined....

I am watching a video on how to make a web browser in a PPT slide,  When I select "Microsoft Web Browser" from the

"More Tools" option, I get that error. Does ActiveX have to be enabled somewhere?

Here is the MSFT page on KillBits.

If you have 2016 you will need to change 15.0 to 16.0.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/2793374

Be sure you know how to modify the registry before trying this.

If you cannot insert ANY ActivX objects Steve is likely to be correct.

If it's just the Web Browser the problem may be different. MSFT think scriptable objects (like the web browser) are a security risk so in 2013 they added a killbit. In simple English this stops you inserting one on a slide and gives a message "This activX object cannot be inserted"

To remove the killbit you need to be happy playing with the registry and also know exactly which version you have 32 / 64 bit, msi based or click to run.

One recent update has caused problems with ActiveX controls.  The workaround/fix is simple and harmless, so give it a try ...

Quit PowerPoint and any other Office apps that are running.

Open a browser window on your TEMP directory (press WindowsKey+R and type %TEMP% into the run program text box, press ENTER)

Look for any *.EXD files in TEMP and its subfolders.  Delete any that you find (they'll be re-created as needed).

Start PPT and try inserting the browser control again.
