Changing Sharepoint Folder to Document Set

Hi,

I have created a new Document Set Content Type and it's working fine but I'd like to change some folders into this new Content Type.

I can change the content type OK but it doesn't change the icon or populate the Document Set page (or metadata).  I have read that this is a bug in Sharepoint.  There is a way around it for Sharepoint 2013 (on-premise) but not Sharepoint Online.

Is there a way to fix this?

Regards,

Edmund

    hi edmund,

in sharepoint online, we can’t completely change an existing folder to a document set, even when you change the folder’s content type to the document set content type. thanks for your understanding.

the best practice is to directly create a document set and move the documents from the existing folder into it. you can easily move multiple documents via open with explorer in internet explorer.

meanwhile, you can submit your requirements via uservoice, your ideas will be great appreciated.

    best regards,

    tim
