Mapping Sharepoint document library keeps giving errors.

Trying to map our document library to windows explorer and I'm having issues.

You cant just map the URL directly even if you have added it to trusted sites and visited the website before. it returns this error:

'Access Denied. Before opening files in this location, you must first add the web site to your trusted site list, browse to the web site, and select the option to login automatically'

Now this is where the issue lays... Using windows 10 and having the users use their office 365 account to connect their machines to Azure AD and to log into windows too, when you go to access the web portal to tick the 'keep me signed in box' you don't get the option. It already logs you in because you logged into windows with the same account.

I can force the connection for users by using the "open with explorer' function, but after a restart the whole process needs to be started again.

Any ideas?

    Hi Matthew,

By checking the escalated case, I notice that the engineer has provided the following troubleshooting steps and is waiting for a response. Feel free to email him back with any update and we'll assist you further according to your situation.

    1. Install Windows updates. Make sure your machine is up to update.
    2. Add the SharePoint Online site to the “Local intranet” site of IE:

    a. Click the setting icon of IE => click Internet options:

    b. Click the Security tab => Local intranet => Sites

    c. Click “Advanced” => Input your SharePoint site URL => click Add button

    1. Clean the IE cache and close IE. Reopen an IE window to test whether the “Open in explorer” function works.

    Thanks for working with us.

    Lingyu Sun

    Hello

the error message is quite clear :)

you need to add your SharePoint Online URL in the IE Trusted Site security zone; from there it will use the current Windows logon to access the site (which in this case will be your AAD credentials)

Sorry, these links you provided take me through the steps that I already said I tried. The whole point is that there is no option for keep me signed in because the users do not have to sign in. they are already signed in with their accounts in windows 10 so when they access the portal it just takes them straight through...
