Change default image folder

How do I change the default image folder in PPT Mac 2011?

Changing "Preferences: Default file location"; changes where the presentation is saved but not where it looks for images.

The default for images is the Documents folder. I can’t find where to change that to get more direct access to my images.

Sure you can drag files to and from iPhoto just like anything else.  I do it all the time. But it’s not about how I can get work photos into iPhoto. I don’t want work files in iPhoto. It would just complicate my file organization and workflow.

In any case, my photo browser shows nothing and there’s no apparent way to navigate.  Now I’ll have to figure that out.  All my iPhoto images are on my computer.

There's no "dragging... in and out of iPhoto". Contents of your iPhoto Library are provided in the Office apps (not just PPT) by way of the Photos pane of the Media Browser & are available to any file you happen to be working with. The organizational features of iPhoto (Albums, Faces, Events, etc.) also are observed as shown in this screen shot:

Note that content stored on iCloud is available as well.
