hi,

using sp designer 2013 to create a 2013 list workflow.

i select list workflow and highlight the correct library

i then name the workflow and select the 2013 workflow option (not 2010).

from there i receive the error message attached.

please can you advise how to fix? a colleague is also having issues.

we both have admin rights. this happens on all sites.

    hi callum,

    thanks for your update.

as you said, you can't run admin as it is greyed out. therefore, you should not be a local administrator. based on my research, we need the local administrator right to use it. refer to this article: https://ashley.geek.nz/2013/10/24/sharepoint-2013-workflows/ . so please make sure you are the local admin first to check the outcome.

in addition, based on our initial troubleshooting, the issue should not be related to online services which are supported in this forum. therefore, we suggest you turn to sharepoint designer forum for depth assistance.

    Hi Callum,

According to the error message, please check the following methods first:

1.Try clearing the SharePoint Designer caches. Below is the location.

    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebsiteCache

    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SharePoint Designer\ProxyAssemblyCache

    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

2.Right click SharePoint designer and run it as administrator to check the outcome.

3.Switch to another computer to see if the issue will be reproduced.

4.Uninstall SharePoint designer and reinstall it again.

If the issue persists, please also confirm the question below.

1.As you say the issue happens when you select 2013 workflow option, how about select 2010 workflow?

2.Can you create the workflow in SharePoint Online directly other than in designer.

Please share any updates when you have time, so we can help you further.

    Regards,

    Sky
