Site mailbox not working | Same Issue

Hi,

This is in regards to old post i.e. Site mailbox not working.

Which is, however, tagged as [SOLVED] but I'm NOT accepting this as a solution of the problem.

I have tried almost every suggestion but still NOT yet resolved.

My very first question, after enabling Mailbox, why we need to go through extra steps to have things in working condition?

Why enabling of Mailbox is not letting to go directly to follow further work/task?

Moreover, in my case (after a thorough investigation), when I checked SharePoint Online Admin Center, then came to know the mailbox is not enabled for my Admin User and that is why the user was not appearing under "Recipients" of Exchange Admin Center.

I'm still not convinced! It should be added as default or there must be a note for the steps (not judging by guess).

Lastly, I'm still not sure my issue is resolved (since yet not working). Or I might still need to wait for 15 or 30 or 24 hours more (as per different posted suggestions).

I would be writing again (if not resolved), Thanks!

SFUH

*UPDATE

What is the difference between following:

- Mail in MyApp (Clicking top left corner ::: of SharePoint Online)

- Mailbox (Under site's menu bar)

I'm still not able to through with Mailbox (still showing "Almost there....") but I can see Mail in MyApp which is taking me to Outlook where I can see emails; even able to send/receive.

Please suggest!

*UPDATE

Now, I got one email in my Outlook (through option Mail in MyApp) i.e. The "[SITE NAME]" site has a new mailbox.

Then, I clicked Mailbox and it started working (i.e. it didn't show "Almost there....")

Here's my conclusion: This might be fixed when I enabled mailbox for my Admin User and then waited for around 24 hours.

You may tag this as [SOLVED]. But, kindly reply with your comment/suggestion.

    Hi Alice,

    Please refer below responses:

    1. Regarding “Site mailbox not working”, does the issue happen when setting up the site mailbox or receiving/sending emails via this site mailbox? What is the specific symptom of the issue about site mailbox?

    Reply:

Whenever I clicked "Mailbox" it's redirecting to page stating:

"Almost there! To use this mailbox, you have to be able to edit this site. If you were just invited to edit, try again in 15 minutes..."

    1. Have you ever deleted the site mailbox from Office 365 Portal > Users > Active Users? The user name of the Site Mailbox should be SMO-*******@domain.com.

    Reply:

No, I never touched. But, I was able to see this email as per my domain name.

    1. Provide the thread links about “Site mailbox not working” you mentioned.

    1. Could you share more details about “the mailbox is not enabled for Admin user in SharePoint admin center” to help us reproduce the issue from our side?

    Reply:

Go to SharePoint Online 2013 > Office 365 admin center > Users > Active Users

And, for my Admin User, it was previously showing as below:

"Mailbox permissions: This user doesn’t have an Exchange mailbox."

Here, in order to fix, I manually assigned Mailbox to my Admin User.

    Reply:

It's not appearing now but it was almost same like screen-shot "Almost there!...." under below link:

    Hi SFUH,

A site mailbox can be used from a SharePoint team site to store and organize team email. Anyone in the default owners group or the default members group for the site (anyone with Contribute permissions) can use the site mailbox from SharePoint. For more details, please see: Prepare for using site mailboxes in Office 365. And for “Mail in My App”, it is Outlook Web App. For your reference: Start using Outlook on the web for business for email and calendars.

To identify the situation of the issue, we’d like to collect the following information:

    1. Regarding “Site mailbox not working”, does the issue happen when setting up the site mailbox or receiving/sending emails via this site mailbox? What is the specific symptom of the issue about site mailbox?
    2. Have you ever deleted the site mailbox from Office 365 Portal > Users > Active Users? The user name of the Site Mailbox should be SMO-*******@domain.com.
