Hi,

We are trying to disable automatic updates for all the computers we have in our organization. The installation of all the Office Proplus clients were installed from the office 365 portal directly, and the automatic updates are enable by default.

If we deploy the register key that say in this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3097292 ,  we dont see any change, the automatic updates still enabled.

What are we doing wrong?

Thanks.

Hello, I was trying to disable automatic update to prevent the upgrade to Office 2016.

If I disabled automatic updates for all the Office 365 proplus 2013 clients, this action prevent the upgrade?

    Thanks.

    Hi F.clayton,

Based on your post, I’d like to confirm the symptom you encountered. According to “The automatic updates still enabled”, do you mean after you set the registry key, Office 2013 ProPlus would still update to Office 2016 ProPlus automatically or there would be some updates on Office 2013?

Furthermore, you said “We are trying to disable automatic updates for all the computers we have in our organization”. Do you mean you want to prevent automatic updates for Office 2013 ProPlus or prevent Office 2013 ProPlus from updating to Office 2016 ProPlus automatically?

If your plan is Office 365 ProPlus, Office 365 Enterprise E3 or Office 365 Enterprise E4, updates to Office 2016 ProPlus from Office 2013 ProPlus won’t happen until February 2016. You can refer to this article for related information: How do I get the new Office 2016 apps using Office 365 for business?

    Any updates will be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Fraser

    Thank you for you answer,

Please, tell if I´m wrong, but I understand that this article, support.microsoft.com/.../3097292, is for prevent Office 365 ProPlus 2013 from being automatically update to Office 2016, Ok. The article said if you put the register key, it disable the automatic update to prevent the upgrade to 2016 .

We have the same office installed directly from O365 portal. We put this key in the register and is not working. The automatic updates still enabled.

Why this fix is not working with us?

    hi f.clayton,

the article you provided above is used to prevent office 365 proplus 2013 from being automatically update to office 2016. we can’t use it to turn off automatic updates on office proplus 2013.

to disable automatic updates on office proplus 2013, we can uninstall the current office programs and deploy office proplus 2013 with office deployment tool. we can add <updates enabled =”false” updatepath=unc | local | http path > in the our configuration.xml file during deploying office 365 proplus. more information can be found in updates element. in addition, here is an article for you: configure update settings for office 365 proplus.

to install office proplus 2013 with odt,  i would like to share with you an article: deploy click-to-run for office 365 products by using the office deployment tool. for the configuration.xml file, please refer to: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219426.aspx.

note: please download office deployment tool (office 2013 version)in the article above.
