split from this thread

i'm having the same issue and it's easy to reproduce.  for example this page onl***point.sharepoint.com/.../learnwithlew-videopage.aspx.   has a content web editor in it.  if i connect to the server using explorer (webdav) and copy the file to my local machine the webparts are stripped every time. this also happens when uploading a file.

here on the left, you can see the original code and webparts.  on the right it is stripped out.

what i've had to do it open the file locally, and in sharepoint designer and then copy and paste the code back and forth.

i recently created a new subsite but the issue seems still consistent.

    Hi Patrick,

I noticed you posted in another thread, we can focus on this thread to look into this issue further.

I have sent you a workspace to collect the video and logs via private message. Could you upload them again when you have time? You can find the message via the URL https://community.office365.com/en-us/user/conversations.

Moreover, I'd like to confirm the following things for further investigation:

1.Is this issue only related to the Content Editor web part? Do you experience this issue with other web parts?

2.What is the type of the page? Is it in the Site Pages library or Pages library?

    Thanks for your time.

    Tim

    hi patrick,

by “connect to the server using explorer (webdav) and copy the file to my local machine”, can you share with us the detailed steps? do you open an explorer with all site pages in sharepoint online and copy the page file to your local drive? is the code stripped when you open the page file or upload it? we appreciate it if you can share with us more screenshots of the steps for reproducing the issue.

meanwhile, if we want to use the existing web part in another page for many times, we can use sharepoint designer to open the page and then choose save the web part to site gallery (you can find the web part via clicking insert>web part>miscellaneous) or to file (you can use it via clicking insert>web part>upload a web parts>imported web parts).

Are you saying scripts within a cewp are stripped or the entire web part is removed?

"the webparts are stripped every time."

My issue is with how Msft's text editor filters out specific bits of code consistently and across all site collections.
