Exclude Subsite from Search Function

Hi everyone,

I would like to create a site with several subsites covering different company areas. I would also like to create a subsite that is accessible only to the company management.

Ideally, the information in this management subsite should only be viewed/edited by the management. Is there any way to exclude this subsite from the overall search function at site level? In other words, I would like managers to be able to search for information within the subsite but the information should not be searchable outside the subsite?

I'm sorry if I formulated this badly!!

Many thanks for any help and information and best regards,

Stephen

Hi Stehpen,

We can prevent the content of a specific site from appearing in search results via the following setting:

1. On the site, click Settings > Site Settings.

2. Under Search, click Search and offline availability.

3. In the Indexing Site Content section, under Allow this site to appear in Search results, select No to prevent the content of the site to appear in search results.

For more details about this setting: Enable content on a site to be searchable

Note: all user will not see the content in the search results after making this setting, including the admins.

Thanks,

Eric Yang

    Hi Stephen,

No, it will not appear in the search result even if you search within the site.

    Thanks,

    Ran

    Dear Eric,

Many thanks for your quick reply. That really helps.

I have one last question - if I do configure the search settings as you suggest, will it be possible to search for content within the site itself?

    Best regards,

    Stephen
