Site storage issue

One of our (not so regular) clients have contacted us with two issues when uploading documents to their Team Site.

They have recently Installed Office 2016 and since then One Drive reports "The server you are trying to access is using an authentication protocol which is not supported by this version of Office".  This seems to be a known issue to Microsoft which is under investigation and as yet, we haven't taken the suggested steps to resolve it, so we will look at this as a separate issue today.

The main issue causing the concern, is that due to the OneDrive issue, the customer is trying to upload some documents to the Team Site by opening the Team Site in a browser and then dragging/dropping.  The customer then receives a message of insufficient space and that files/folder will need to be deleted to create sufficient free space.  This alarmed him, as he hasn't used that much of his 1TB capacity.

I've logged into the customers Office 365 site as their admin and looked at the Site Metrics which shows 0.05GB free of 0.05GB (screenshot attached).

Although they do store documents on the Team Site, I would expect there to be less than 2GB used of 1024.00GB (1TB).

Why would the site report such little storage space available?

    hi inovix

after i read the whole thread, i'd like to explain the following points:

1.the storage of the team site is absolutely not 1 tb. its' storage is 10gb+500mb*number of licensed users. refer to  limits for sharepoint online in office 365 small business premium. for your convenience, see the screenshot below.

    ![](http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=ac61be67-21b9-4d46-9f81-a528ac4eddd0)

you can navigate to the user' team sites which url looks like https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sitepages/home.aspx. click the setting gear>site settings> storage metrics. the storage should be more than 10gb and less than 1tb.

2.the third picture on your second post displays 0.05gb which is a normal behavior. it is my site host's default storage. its url looks like https://contoso-my.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/storman.aspx

3.the fourth picture on your second post displays 1024gb which is user's personal site (onedrive for business storage). you can log into the office 365 portal ->onedrive->the setting gear>site settings> storage metrics to check the outcome.

as you say "users get the alarm", since the storage of the team site only has 10gb+500mb*number of licensed users. i suppose it may approach the limit of the storage.you can let him:

1.upload files to onedrive for business which has 1 tb personal storage.

2.upload files to team sites, but they need to purchase addition storage.

here is a related thread for your reference: https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/148/t/203302

if anything is unclear, you can post back with the full screenshots including the url. we will help you understand these sites better.

    regards,

    sky

    hello tim

    thanks for your reply

    1.  there is only one user who uploads to the site (there are only two people within this business).
    2.  i'm a little unsure how to determine what is the users 'personal' site and what is the overall team site.having followed your advice, i logged in as the affected user (he is an admin for the subscription).  from the office 365 admin centre, i using the menu on the left, i navigated to service settings > sites and then chose manage team site settings under site settings

    ![](http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=a699774a-5b62-428b-a18a-f7d036151b57)

...then choose storage metrics from the site collection administration.

here, i see the 0.05gb free of 0.05gb

    ![](http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=badb07e0-a1b8-43af-9732-065410c97850)

however, having followed your reply, i started over.  again, i logged in as the affected user, but this time took a different route and navigated to site>setting gear>site settings> storage metrics.  now i see a different result of 1024.00gb free of 1024.00 gb

    ![](http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=72ea3aee-8ce3-46fd-ac59-e3abc8cac5e5)

aside from using a different path to navigate my way to the storage metrics menu, i'd assumed i ended up in the same place, however as the results are different, maybe not?

unless i'm missing something obvious, it doesn't seem at all clear when accessing the team site from the web what is the users' personal allocation of the site and what is the overall site.

as previously mentioned, the user is the only person who uploads to the site and the documents are for use by the company.

    1.  the user has an office 365 small business premium subscription.
    2.  i'm not able to get a screenshot of the alarm message from the user at this time, but will request they send me one so i can post it here.
