Zero sized files

I have just installed Windows 10 and Office 2016 onto some computers. Onedrive for Business sync client seems to now just download a few files (all at zero kb) and then gets stuck. This affects my own files as well as files from other people's onedrive folders shared through SharePoint.

I have tried resetting Onedrive entirely using the CleanODB script and it still doesn't work. When I look at the files through my browser, all of the files are fine.

Any suggestions of how to fix this?

Hi Andy,

Does the problem occur to all devices which you sync the OneDrive for Business library to? If so, you may first check whether there are unsupported file types or formats in cloud that can’t be synced to the local client:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2933738

After making sure that all files are under the sync limits, please stop syncing the folder and navigate to the following folders to remove all files:

C:\Users%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\OfficeFileCacheC:\Users%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Spw

Let us know if there is any improvement re-syncing the affected library.

Regards,

Jerry

    Hi,

Apologies, it took me a bit of time to get back to this. OK, so I did the steps above and actually a reboot seemed to stop the error from then happening. I then ran the CleanODB script that was given to me by Microsoft a while ago. I then linked the OneDrive back up to the Sync Client and it all seemed to start working fine. I'm not sure what the actual solution was in the end, it seemed to be a combination of things! I look forward to the Next Gen client supporting shared folders so we can move over to that...

    Hi Andy,

The message indicates that some problems may be encountered during deletion of the cache folders above. Given the situation, we’d suggest you repair the OneDrive for Business client by running an Office Online repair and check the outcome:

    Repair an Office application

Additionally, if you only need to sync the OneDrive for Business library instead of the SharePoint document library, we would suggest you install the Next Gen OneDrive for Business sync client to get a better sync experience:

    Improve your OneDrive sync experience

    Regards,

    Jerry

I tried as you suggested now I just get an error when I try to resync the library

    (Explorer.EXE)

This file does not have a programme associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create a file association in the Default Programs control panel.

This just constantly appears until I terminate the OneDrive for Business process. Next step?

The folder syncs fine with my home PC which is running Windows 10 Pro with Office 2016. The work laptops (there are two affected laptops synchronising two totally different libraries) are both running Windows 10 Education and Office 2016 Pro. There are no unsupported files or formats.
